That Liga de Loja game was insane! Winning at Uruguay with really good soccer and running on a modest budget. We still have 2 more teams (Emelec and Barcelona) with huge chances to advance to the round of 16 as well so let’s hope for the best. Ecuadorian soccer is slowly becoming one of the strongest footballing nations in South America. Well deserved too!
I have to say, I am really proud of Deportivo Quito. I am a fan of Liga de Quito so I’m supposed to hate this team but Ecuador always comes first in my mind. It truly amazes me the impact a coach can have on a team. Ischia took this team from being a bunch of scrubs to possibly being in the top 8 clubs in South America. Fidel Martinez is bound to be a star, he just needs to stop going with that Neymar look. Alustiza is a goleador, no other way to describe him. Saritama is slowly shutting me up on whether he deserved to start for the National Team. Paredes is such a great winger and the fact that he can play RB gets me so pumped for WCQ against Argentina and Colombia! Valencia and Paredes is gonna be so deadly on the right! This team is destined for big things and it feels good to grow up during the Golden Era of Ecuadorian futbol. Not to mention the progress the country is making as a whole! I fucking love everything about Ecuador right now! :’)
